Our latest Update can be read here: Rights in Russia Update.
We invite you to take part in our project facilitating the writing of letters to prisoners of conscience / political prisoners in Russia. This week we highlight the case of Dolite Sinitsyna, a retired history teacher imprisoned for criticising Russia's war against Ukraine.
Our translations this week include pieces by human rights lawyer Irina Biryukova on the Russian penitentiary system, by leading figure from Memorial Sergei Davidis on human rights and Russia's war against Ukraine and a new film by Proekt about Ramzan Kadyrov, and by imprisoned political activist Ilya Yashin on Andrei Sakharov and Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn and his recent trial for alleged breach of the 'foreign agent' laws.
The recent winner of the Pushkin House Book Prize was Elena Kostyuchenko's 'I love Russia'. You can read a review of this work by Teresa Cherfas here. If you would like to review a book for our website, please write to: ronan at rightsinrussia dot org
With best wishes,
